Claes Tranquillo ~

Claes Tranquillo ~Megane to Hitotsu no Yakusoku~

Quiet Claes ~Glasses and One Promise~

“Ryouri o suru no mo, e o kaku koto mo, gakki o hiku mo tanoshii shi,
koko ni wa yomikirenai hodo no hon ga aru…”

“I enjoy cooking, drawing, and playing instruments,
and here there are so many books I’ll never read them all…”

— sonna ki ga suru no da…

And so more than anything, I know the joy of passing the time idly
It’s something that my papa or someone taught me long ago…
— that’s the feeling that I have…

“7 [sette] YAADO de hicchuu dekiru you ni naru made kaette kuruna”
— to shoujo no tantoukan [Raballo] wa itta…
shoujo ga kanaderu yoru to asa no rinbukyoku [rondo] dangan wa ame no naka odoritsudzuketa…

“Don’t come back until you can hit the target from seven yards away.”
— the girl’s guardian [Raballo] said…
In the rain, the bullets kept on dancing to the rondo that the girl played morning and night

Is obedience to orders– “conditioning”– an “iron law”?
Young lady… young lady… [Claes… Claes…]

shoujo no shashin [fotografia] totemo daijisou ni hon o kakaete hohoende ita

“It’s because people without education or curiosity don’t make good soldiers,”
— the blunt guardian [Raballo] said…
In the photograph, the girl was cradling a book lovingly in her arms and smiling

“Shageki no renshuu wa shibaraku chuushi to nari,
yokujitsu, watashi-tachi wa asa kara dekakeru koto to natta…”

“Target practice was cancelled for a little while,
So it was decided that we’d go out the next morning…”

RONBARUDIA, VENETO, PIEMONTE….
Kousha de no watashi-tachi wa itsumo mukuchi de,
otagai kyoukan to oshiego no yakuwari o chuujitsu ni konashita ga,
nazeka itsumo mizuumi de wa kaiwa ga susunda.
sore ga futari no anmoku no RUURU datta no da…”

“— And from then on, we visited many lakes.
In Lombardy, Veneto, Piedmonte…
We never said much to each other at the Agency,
Faithfully playing the parts of teacher and student,
But somehow at the lake we always talked.
That was our unspoken rule…”

‘seitoubouei igai de wa nuite wa naranai’
chikatetsu ni waku CHINPIRA aite no chotto shita jicchi kunren
kirameku hamono [knife] ga tsukisasaru shunkan no shougeki

‘Don’t draw your weapon except in self-defense’
A little bit of practical training in the subway station infested with hoodlums
The moment the knife pierced me was a shock

‘shageki no ude yori nuku TAIMINGU’
juuyou da to osowatte’ta no ni…

Even though I’d been taught that the timing of the draw
Is more important than the shooting skill…

aa… hamono [knife] no ma ni haitte kara juu o tsukau to kimete mo

Ah… once you’re within stabbing range, even if you’ve decided to use a gun
Ah… once you’re within the enemy’s range, it’s too late to pull the trigger
— Next time I won’t hesitate

kousha no shageki kunrenjou → JAMUtta shoujo no SIG →
subayaku tsumeyoru RABARO → kobushi de hajiketonda HENRIETTA →
ko o egaki JOZE o haritobasu →
sono haigo ni wa tachiagatta HENRIETTA →
mochiageta kyouki o kamaete → RABARO ni shoujun o awaseta →
sore o mita watashi wa hikigane o hiita → kondo wa tamerawanakatta…

The shooting range at the Agency → The girl’s SIG jammed →
Raballo quickly approached → Sending Henrietta flying with his fist →
Sending Giuse flying in an arc →
Henrietta stood up behind him →
Raising a weapon → she aimed it at him →
Seeing this, I pulled the trigger → This time I didn’t hesitate…

“Watashi ga taiin shite ma mo naku RABARO-san wa kousha o satta.
Shukusha no kagi to furubita megane, kazoekirenai omoide o nokoshite.
Watashi ga kare no sugata o mita no wa sore ga saigo datta…”

“Immediately after I got out of the hospital, Raballo left the Agency,
Leaving me the key to his room, an old pair of glasses, and countless memories.
That was the last I saw of him…”

‘kono megane o kakete’ru aida wa otonashii KURAESU’
kakikae kanou na “meirei” ja nai… chi no kayotta “yakusoku”

‘When you wear these glasses, you’ll be the quiet Claes’
That’s not an “order” that can be changed… it’s a promise sealed in blood.

— sonna ki ga suru no da…

And so more than anything, I know the joy of passing the time idly
It’s something that my papa or someone taught me long ago…
— that’s the feeling that I have…
