Railway ~koko ni aru yume~ – Natsukusa no Senro

August 9, 2012

Natsukusa no Senro – 夏草の線路 – Railway of Summer Grass

kaeru hito kako to tsunaida mirai
toorisugita natsu no kanata
maboroshi to sameta toki wa tsubuyaku
yume dake ga koko ni aru

A future connected to the past of that returning person
On the other side of the summer we passed through
This cold time whispers “It’s an illusion”
Only dreams are here

yaketa senro tayutou kagerou wa
yuruyaka na kaze o atsumete
yasashii kakera nokoshite kieta
hateshinaku tsudzuku asu o matsu

A heat haze shimmered over the sun-baked rails
Gathering up the mild breezes
It vanished, leaving gentle fragments
Waiting for an endlessly continuing tomorrow

itsuka osanai koro (natsukashii ne)
futari toki o kasaneta
yume kioku to kizu to
koko ni nokoshita REERU no mukou haruka mezasu

Once, when I was young (nostalgic, isn’t it?)
Our times overlapped
Aiming for the far side of dreams, memories, and wounds
And the rails that remained here

“michi wa dokomademo tsudzuite’ku” to
anata ga sashidashita te ni wa
koko ni aru yume ima koe o agete
taisetsu na mono ushinau koto mo
kawaru koto mo wasureru koto mo kyou
torimodoshite waraiaeru

“This road goes on forever,” you said
And held out your hand
In it was the dream that was here; raise your voice now
The precious things and the things we lost
The things that changed and the things that were forgotten
Today I’ll take them all back, and we’ll be able to smile again

kienai itami kizutsuita kokoro
yurameku natsugusa mite ita
hanarebanare no REERU mitai ni
negai wa tsumetai mizu no you

My wounded heart, filled with unhealing pain,
Was looking at the swaying summer grass
Like the rails separating us
My wish is like cold water

itsuka nakama-tachi no (unmei e)
yume o nosete hashitta
kono furui tsubasa to

Once, we ran (towards destiny)
Carrying the dreams of our friends
With these old wings
The sea silently cures even sadness in time

“ashita ni nareba yume wa kanau” to
namida o koraeta te no naka
koko ni aru yume ima hashiridashite
negatte mamotte shinjite kieta
hitotsu no yume itsu no hi ni ka
kiseki yobiokoshite mirai ni naru

“Tomorrow our dreams will come true”
You said, holding back tears
In your hand was the dream that was here; start to run
We wished for it, protected it, believed in it, but it vanished
This one dream will one day
Awaken a miracle and become our future

sora wa itsumo tooku (tachimukatta)
watashi-tachi o mitsumete
tada hikari to kaze to
koko ni nokoshita REERU no mukou haruka mezasu

The sky is always far away (we faced it)
Watching us
Aiming for the far side of the light and the wind
And the rails that remained here

“hatasenai yakusoku wa shinai” to
anata ga sashidashita te ni wa
koko ni aru yume ima koe o agete
taisetsu na mono ushinau koto mo
kawaru koto mo wasureru koto mo kyou
torimodoshite waraiaeru

“I won’t make a promise I can’t keep,”
You said, and held out your hand
In it was the dream that was here; raise your voice now
The precious things and the things we lost
The things that changed and the things that were forgotten
Today I’ll take them all back and we’ll be able to smile again
