Sound Horizon – Honoo

September 26, 2012

The light of long-lasting peace cast a shadow in which disastrous battles were commonplace
Those who participate in the funeral procession, all close-mouthed
Can only keep walking in the rain…

me o tojite yami ni  toiki o kasaneru

Closing my eyes, I release sigh after sigh into the darkness
The warm light I softly touched was a tiny heartbeat
History is manipulated by books bound with the negative conjunction “but”
The miraculous light that softly trembled was someone’s flame…

taerarenu itami nado  nani hitotsu otozurenai mono sa…

I’ve realized that suffering has always been my travelling companion
I’ve never been visited by a pain I couldn’t endure…

yorokobi ni musebu shiroi asa  kanashimi ni nageku kuroi yoru
warera ga ayunda kono hibi o  umareru mono ni tsunagou…
hitomi ni utsushita aoi sora  namida o tokashita aoi umi
warera ga aishita kono sekai [basho] o  itoshii mono ni nokosou…

A white morning smothered in joy, a black evening lamenting in sorrow
Let’s connect these days we’ve walked through to the ones that are born…
A blue sky reflected in my eyes, a blue sea swallowing my tears
Let’s leave this world we’ve loved to the ones that are dear to us…

aa… asa to yoru wa kurikaesu  kirameku suna ga koborete mo…
aa… asa to yoru wa kurikaesu  aishita hana ga karete mo…
aa… asa to yoru wa kurikaesu  chigitta yubi ga hanarete mo…
aa… asa to yoru o kurikaeshi  inochi [hito] wa meguritsuzukeru…

Ah… mornings and evenings cycle around, though the glittering sand may spill…
Ah… mornings and evenings cycle around, though the beloved flowers may wither…
Ah… mornings and evenings cycle around, though the fingers we linked to make a promise may be separated…
Ah… mornings and evenings cycle around, people go on living…

utsukushii honoo [hikari] o mita  shi o idaku kurayami no chihei ni
nikushimi meguru sekai ni  ikutsuka no ai no uta o tomosou…

I saw a beautiful flame on death’s dark horizon
The world spinning in hatred sparked countless love songs

dore hodo yoru ga nagaku to mo  izure asa wa otozureru–

However long the night may be, morning must eventually arrive…

yorokobi ni yureta no wa murasaki-iro no hana [Violette]  kanashimi ni nureta no wa mizuiro no hana [Hortense]
dareka ga tsudzutta kono uta o  umarenu kimi ni okurou…

So you won’t be lonely all by yourself, I shall place a pair of twin dolls at your side
I’ll send them with you, as you sleep unwaking in your little coffin-cradle
The one that trembles in joy is Violette; the one that is drenched with sorrow is Hortense
My gift to you who were never born is this song someone composed…

rekishi ga sho o tsukuru no ka  sho ga rekishi o tsukuru no ka
eien o ikirarenai ijou  subete o shiru yoshi mo naku
asa to yoru no chihei o meguru  daigo no tabiji
hanareta mono ga futatabi tsunagaru hi wa  otozureru no darou ka?

Does history create books, or do books create history?
We cannot live forever, and we cannot know everything
The fifth journey reaches the horizon between morning and evening
Will a day come when those who have been separated are brought together again?

natsukashiki shirabe  sore wa dare no kuchibiru ka–
aa… monogatari [Roman] o utau no wa…

A nostalgic tune… whose lips are those–
Ah… those that sing this story?

(“soko ni ROMAN wa aru no kashira?”)

(“Could a story be found over there?”)

NOTES:

The words in square brackets are what is sung, where it differs from what is written in the lyrics booklet. The stanzas in parentheses are not in the lyrics booklet and have been transcribed by ear.

(Original lyrics by Revo.)

From → Other, Roman
