Kutsushita no Himitsu – 靴下の秘密 – The Secret in My Socks

ken o motazu ni
shiroi hana o kazatte
egao o soete
o-uta RARARA utatte

Without a sword
I decorated the white flowers
Faking a smile
I sang “Lalala”

yume o mita kedo
hashiru koto o wasurete
kubi ni tsurushita
KAGI o sotto niranda

I had a dream
But I forgot how to run
And only silently glared
At the key hung around my neck

kashikoi kodomo wa shitte’ta
aisareru sube o zenbu

The smart kids knew
All the ways to be loved

demo kutsushita no naka ni wa
KAMISORI o kakushita mama
dakiainagara
hohoende
yuuhi ni katamuku kage wa
akaku somatta

But in my socks
I had hidden a razor
Embracing it
I smiled
And the shadows slanting in the setting sun
Were dyed red

“aku” o yurusazu
“zen” o agametsudzukete
tsukuribanashi o
chanto umaku nomikomi

I’d completely swallowed
The lies about
Not forgiving “evil”
And continuing to praise “good”

chiisa na tenohira nobashite
sora o aoide wa naita

I reached out with my small hand
And, looking at the sky, I cried

demo kutsushita no naka ni wa
namida o kakushita mama
“mukae ni kite” to
tsubuyaite
hoka ni nani mo iranai to
PAPA o nikunda

But in my socks
I had hidden my tears
“Come and meet me,”
I whispered
And, not needing anything else,
I hated my father

sou kutsushita no naka ni wa
KAMISORI o kakushita mama
dakiainagara
hohoende
yuuhi ni katamuku kage wa
akaku somatta

Yes, in my socks
I had hidden a razor
Embracing it
I smiled
And the shadows slanting in the setting sun
Were dyed red

watashi wa PISUTORU datte motte ita
KATTA mo NAIFU mo zenbu motte ita

I even had a pistol
And a box cutter and a knife and everything
