Sound Horizon – Na mo Naki Onna no Uta

May 13, 2015

Na mo Naki Onna no Uta – 名もなき女の詩 – The Nameless Woman’s Song[1]

[I’m not going to transliterate this since it’s not like it’s sung anyway, sorry guys]

(Since the {first archive}, {what is known as my consciousness} has been linked to that horizon…

The archive has already permitted the alteration of that seed. [He] and [she] have the connection known as being lovers. Soon, the two will be torn apart by a {historic} battle. The man, mistakenly believing the woman to be dead, will, due to his feelings towards his lover, earn the wrath of powerful people and be executed, while the woman, blindly believing the man to be alive, will, as a result of searching for him, be cursed with blindness…

The conclusion of this tragedy is a factor that can be moved to the right or left. I tried denying his ad921d60486366258809553a3db49a4a and her ad921d60486366258809553a3db49a4a…

Now, then. Is the cat in the box alive? Or dead? Let’s try peeking into the cage–)

(What does the poet relay in dark?
The unknown lady who remained unrecognized in the “Chronicle”.
She is the “Nein”.)

kawaita kaze ga nadeta onna no hada ni fukai shiwa o kizamu

On that distant past days, the flower faded in the shadow that fell
The dry wind stroked the woman’s body, carving deep wrinkles

aa… akai sora o yuku shiroi tabidori yo

Ah, white birds flying in the red sky
Do you know a place I should struggle to reach?

aa… tsurete itte okure oite ikanaide
koe ni dekinai koe

Ah, bring me with you, don’t leave me alone
I can’t make my voice come out

toozakaru fuukei [hikari] ni te o nobashita daiku no genjitsu [yami] ni

In the distant scenery of light, in the darkness of the ninth reality to which I reached out my hand
There isn’t even one thing to be sure of

But his artistic soul died.
What would people from coming ages evaluate?
What was the thing he really wanted to defend?)

And with that… my former life was over, but…
After I got over the shock and confusion… of the change in my mental state…
I felt strangely optimistic… like I’d been reborn…
And after a bit… I began to help out… with the work of the bakery…

And knead → knead → knead the dough → ’til you need to doze Zzz…

Due to the climate, the wheat that grows in our country
Isn’t as plump and full as that of other countries
But the bread’s crust is crispy and the inside is soft and chewy
We’ve used our ingenuity to make it delicious anyway

I’m not good with words, but I’m good with my hands
My face is no good either (But forget about that!)
Our location is the imperial capital, Paris, and our deliciousness is beyond doubt

aukata naki kage ou hibi no hikari o miushinai
kizu o ou hodo ni rou koto ni tsukareta no kamo shirenakatta…

I lost sight of the light of the days when I chased after shadows I had no way of catching
Maybe I had tired of it due to growing so old that it hurt…

taoreru izen no… watashi nara kitto…
hatte demo tabi o… tsudzuketa no deshou ne…
{kujikesou na kokoro o hagamashite kureru sonzai} kuchizusamu uta demo areba chigatta no?
hakujou na onna ne keredo…

If I hadn’t… fallen to illness, surely…
I would have kept journeying… even if I had to crawl…
Would it have been different if I’d had a song to hum to lift my crushed spirits?
I’m a heartless woman, aren’t I? But…

hitonami no {koufuku} [shiawase] o negatte wa ikemasen ka?
{kunan} [fuyu] o norikoe saku no ga {hana no inochi} [onna] de mono
moshi kore ga karimono no {monogatari} [jinsei] da to shite mo
{katawara de aishite kureru hito no egao} [haru] o abite chiritai…

Is it wrong to wish for an ordinary happiness?
Overcoming the hardships of winter, a flower of a woman blooms
Even if this is a borrowed life
I want to die while basking in the springtime of my beloved’s smile…

(“Pan-, ee, pan wa iranka ne-!
Madame no hada no you ni soto wa karikkari…ja nakute, naka wa mocchi mochi da yo-!”
“Aara, sore jaa, hitotsu itadakou kashira?”
“Maido ari-!”
“Oo, hara ga hetta no ka?” PAN PAN ni shite yarou ka?”
“Mou, pan wa mada hayai wa yo”
“Hayai kaa? Hahaha…”
“Fufufu…mou…” )

(“Bread! Don’t you need some bread?
The outside is all crispy just like your skin… isn’t, and the inside is soft!”
“My, my, in that case, may I have one?”
“Thank you, come again!”
“Oh, are you hungry? Shall we fill up your belly with bread?”
“Really, it’s too early for bread!”
“Early? Hahaha…”
“Fufufu… really…”)

(And then, as in the coming ages, the memory of the Luna.)

(“medetashi… medetashi…”)

(“Happily ever after…”)

Notes:

[1] This song references the albums Chronicle and Chronicle 2nd, with the events of “Shijin Ballad no Higeki” being the main point of divergence from the original storyline.

    Just a… notion… During this part -> 笑う貴方 と 私 と 二人の……
If you hear at the end of this line, there’s a sound of crying baby (which largely hinted their child, and this is confirmed at the live), wouldn’t it be better if the line was something like “Where you’re laughing, with me, and our…”
