{bara no kishidan} [Knights of the Rose]

Knights of the Rose

hitotsu ni matomatte yuku joukei o tsudzutta Luna Ballad no uta no issetsu…

That is… one verse of Luna Ballad’s song of people who dragged behind them a long era of troubles
Now uniting into one under a new rose…

mune ni kedakaki joou [queen] no bara o daita douhou [tomo] o
tatae yo warera no {bara no kishidan} [Knights of the Rose] o

Wreathed in proud flames, they took up swords to defend our motherland
Let us praise our countrymen who bear on their chests the queen’s noble rose,
Our Knights of the Rose

aa… hikari no megami [Brigid] no shukufuku ga aran koto o…
inori no uta ni miokurare yuuki na Britannia no musuko-tachi wa senjou e to mukatta…

Ah… the blessings of Brigid, goddess of light, be upon them…
Seen off by a song of prayer, the sons of Britannia headed toward the battlefield…

Notes:

[1] Brigid is a Celtic pre-Christian goddess who is associated with dawn and fire and is a particular patron of poets. In this alternate history, she seems to have become Britannia’s primary goddess.
