Book seventeen, page eighty-four…

“A~a arya SEIREEN desu ze okashira~!!”
acchi ga umi no majo nara, kocchi wa umi no bijo dattsuu no!”
“‘Uruwashiki sugata Venus no gotoshi’ to utawareta,
kono Thetis-sama o namen ja nai yo…”
“Sorya ‘takeki sugata Pallas Athene no gotoshi’ no machigai ja…”
“ZIMAA nanka itta kai?”
“Hii~!!!”
“Iku yo yaroudomo, bibitte n’ja nai yo!”
“So~ra, oide nasu dda ze!”
(Haw l’altero l’altero! Haw l’altero l’altero hoo! hoo!)

“Captain, we’re in trouble! A huge storm has suddenly broken out straight ahead of us!”
“Aaaah, it’s a siren, Captaaaaain!”
“Don’t be afraid of some siren. You’re pathetic.
If that’s the sea witch, then I’m the great beauty of the sea!”
“You shouldn’t make fun of Lady Thetis, goddess of the sea,
who is said to be as beautiful as Venus, goddess of beauty…”
“Ya sure you don’t mean ‘as ferocious as Pallas Athene, goddess of war’?”
“You say something, Zimmer?”
“Eek!!!”
“Let’s go, you scurvy dogs, don’t be afraid!”
“All right, we’re going!”
(Now, row, row! Now, row, row, there! There!)

… namima o tadayou boroi itakire

… A crumbling plank of wood floated in the valley between the waves
Bearing a young girl on its back–to where…?

“Yoo… ki ga tsuita ka?”
“Koko wa doko? … Anata wa?”
“Koko wa Mediterraneo, kono fune wa Venus-Laetitia, atai wa kono fune no senchou Laetitia.”
“Socchi no zuutai no DEKAI yarou wa YASUROO… kinniku baka da”
“Yoroshiku na, jouchan”
“Kocchi no usankusai hige no yarou wa ZIMAA… tada no baka da.”
“Gabiin!”
SEIREEN no arashi ni makikomarete shimatte… aa… minna imagoro kitto kitto kurai umi no soko ni…”
“Mou… umi no majo ga naku n’ja nai yo…”
“… tte anta, sono kubikazari doushita no yo?”
“Sono ossan tte watashi no papa yo, machigainai wa!
Ikite’ru no? Ikite’ru no ne? Watashi no papa wa i-ki-te-ru-no-ne!!”
“Uwaa… anta mo ikite’ta… oyaji-san mo ikite’ta n’da…
Anta no nakama ni mo, hoka ni ikite’ru yatsu ga iru n’ja nai ka?”
“Fune o dashite, ima sugu dashite, dashite, dashite nasai, fu-ne-o-da-shi-na-sa-i!!!”

“Yooo… you conscious?”
“Where am I? … Who are you?”
“This is Mediterraneo, and this ship’s the Venus-Laetitia. I’m the captain, Laetitia.”
“That big fellow over there is Yasrow… he’s a muscle-headed idiot.”
“Nice to meetcha, little lady.”
“This fishy-looking fellow with the moustache is Zimmer… he’s just an idiot.”
“Hey!”
“There are a bunch of other idiots on this ship… anyway, who are you?”
“Thank you for saving me; I’m Agnes,
I was caught up in the siren’s storm… ah… everyone else must be at the bottom of the sea now…”
“Come now… sea witches don’t cry…”
“… Say, how did you come by that necklace?”
“Wow… you sure recover fast, kid…
A long time ago… I saved an old man from drowning, and he gave it to me. It seemed like it was more precious to him than his life…”
“That old man must have been my papa, there’s no mistaking it!
Is he alive? He’s alive, isn’t he? My papa is aliiiiiiive!”
“Wow… you lived… your father lived…
So maybe some of your friends lived too, huh?”
“Sail this ship, sail it right now, sail it, sail it, sail the shiiiiip!”

“Dohyaa~!!!!!”
nami o naguritaoshinagara tsukisusumu kaizokusen
sore o michibiku no you ni soukyuu o kakenukeru hakua
dokomademo… dokomademo…

“Dohyaa!!!!!”
Breaking through the waves, the pirate ship presses on
As if leading it, the white crow flies through the blue sky
Its white form seems to melt into the blue
To anywhere… to anywhere…
