Shoujobyou – Kakan no Youou ga Seoishi Kaze

July 19, 2018

Kakan no Youou ga Seoishi Kaze

The Shackles That Burden the Flower-Crowned Young King

“Hana to mizu no afureru kuni, MIRASHUKA.
Hitobito wa shitashimi o komete youou KATARINA to yobi, kono kuni no shourai wa yakusoku sareta you na mono to waraiatta–“

“Mirashka, a country overflowing with flowers and water.
The one who governs this country that is not under the witches’ influence is still just a small child.
The people affectionately called her Young King Katerina, and laughed to each other that this country’s future was secured–”

satougashi mitai ni marude torokeru you na amakute yasashii shoujo no koe ga kyou mo kotori o yobiyosete

The girl’s gentle voice, which seems so sweet it would melt like sugar candy, calls the little birds to her again today
Her innocent smile cannot be extinguished; she wields a strange power to calm anyone

keredo sonna osanai ou ga hisoka ni kakaeru nayami ga atta
yo ni mo mezurashii melophobia to iu yamai

But this child king had a worry that she kept hidden
An extremely strange illness known as “melophobia”

sainamarete marude hito ga ah… kawatta you ni natte…

She was generally as excellent as she gave the impression of being
But this girl, loved by all and as childish as her age would suggest,
For some reason, upon simply hearing music, would get a terrible headache
It tormented her, and people seemed, ah… to become strange to her…

kenage ni warau tsurakunai hazu no nai KATARINA wa naka no ii jijuu no AANII ni mo namida kakushite
“shinpai o kakecha, ikenai” to tsuyogatte

Katarina, who smiled admirably and shouldn’t have experienced any hardship, hid her tears even from her chamberlain Ernie, a close friend
“Don’t worry about me,” she said, putting on a brave face
When she cried, she cried alone in her bed so that no one would notice

jibun o iwau seitanbi no uta sonna mono de sae kikenakatta
shiawase na hazu no hi ga tada kanashikatta

She couldn’t even stand to listen to a song wishing her a happy birthday
So that day, which should have been happy, was nothing but sad

MIRASHUKA no shiro kara wa ongaku ga kiete nakunatta
jibun igai no mono ni mo sonna kankyou o seowasete
yasashii KATARINA wa fukai kurushimi ni torawareta
akiramezu ni chiyu o motome kakuchi kara meii o yonde…
demo, kyou mo dame– chiryou wa seikou shinai

Music disappeared from Mirashka’s castle
Others, too, were made to take on that burden
The gentle Katerina was captive of a deep suffering
She searched tirelessly for a cure, inviting famous doctors from all corners of the world…
But today, yet again, no luck–the treatment isn’t working

“Hisshi ni namidame o kakusou to suru keredo, sore sae dekite iru kamo utagawashikute”

“She’s trying her hardest to hide her tears, but it’s doubtful she can manage even that”

“Kokoro no yamai, to iu koto mo kangaerareru no deshou ka?”

“Have you ever thought that it might be a sickness of the heart?”

“U? Kokoro mo, byouki ni naru no?”

“Huh? Hearts can get sick too?”

“If that’s the case, if the splendor of music could only be delivered to your heart, King Katerina, then perhaps…”

“Un, shiritai! Oshiete. Soko ni hitosuji demo koumyou ga aru no nara–“

“Yes, I want to find out! Tell me! If there’s even a shred of hope there–”

Her voice echoed in the air, carried on the sound of birds’ wings

utsukushii ongaku o! toki ni hito no jinsei sae mo
ugokashite shimau kurai chikaradzuyoki ah… ongaku o!
kanadete kokoro made todokeru koto ga muzukashii no nara
amata nokoru ongaku ni matsuwaru monogatari o megutte miyou
denshou o shomotsu o atsumete tadotte ikou

Beautiful music! Ah, music… with a power so great
That sometimes it can even change people’s lives!
If it is difficult for it to reach my heart
I’ll try searching for the many stories surrounding the remaining music
I’ll make a difficult journey to collect legends and books

shoujo wa kami ni inoru
“itsuka, kotori-tachi to issho in utaemasu you ni…”

The girl prayed to the gods
“Please, someday, let me sing with the little birds…”

(Original lyrics by Shoujobyou)
